Mattle was formed in a garage workshop
in southern california by Ruth and Elliot Handler. In the beginning they mainly made doll house furniture out of picture
fram scraps. In 1947 the Uke-A-Doodle was the first musical toy ever made by Mattle Inc. In 1955 Mattle begain
to advertise there toys through the "Mickey Mouse Club" witch helped the company really take off. In 1959 Ruth wanted
to create something that no one else has ever done, the Barbie a three- deminsional figure. When the Barbie first
came out she cost a total of $3.oo.
After the Barbie take off Mattle
became an individually owned company. In 1961 the ken doll came out. This was Barbie's one and only boyfriend
and they met though friends Midge who came out in 1963 and skipper in 1965. Mattel is one of the highest toy companies
in the world. They distrubuite there products all over the place. In 1968 the company
begain making toy race cars, known as "Hot rods" they were very popular with the boys and they still are today.
The Mattel company made
friends of many different background in 1968. In 1972 the company decided to make Mattel Inc. with only one devision
and seven factories. In 1975 the Handler's decided to leave the toy company to persue other dreams.
In 1977 the mattel company gets into the electronic gameing system.
